Message From the Chief

Chief Wayne B. Masters, Jr.

Thank you for visiting the website of Spring Mill Fire Company No.1 (SMFC). This site is designed and maintained to provide as much information as possible about current events and important notifications for the community.

SMFC was established in 1923 and we are excited to be approaching our 100th Anniversary, this is a very challenging milestone in today’s world when volunteerism is at an all-time low.   We are always looking for more volunteers, everyone can contribute in some fashion.  Whether it is someone wanting to be a volunteer firefighter, an administrative volunteer, a junior firefighter, an auxiliary volunteer, a dive team volunteer, a fire police volunteer, or just your financial donations makes a huge difference.

SMFC consists of a number of dedicated volunteers who are ready to respond at a moment’s notice to whatever emergency that requires our assistance.  These men and women are trained volunteers who are proud to serve Whitemarsh Township and our surrounding communities.  Our members are trained and certified by the Montgomery County Fire Academy in multiple disciplines of fire and rescue operations. We train in-house on a weekly basis to keep our skills fresh, considering that we never know what the next alarm will be.

SMFC also is 1 of only 2 Dive Units in Montgomery County.   The purpose of this specialty unit is to provide underwater search, rescue, and recovery efforts.  This is a unique team that provides assistance to both the police and fire services.

We welcome and encourage visitors at any time.  Please feel welcome to stop by the station and introduce yourself, we always have someone in the station Monday – Saturday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  And our drill night is every Monday night from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.   If there is any way that we can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
