Today at 12:53 PM, Spring Mill Fire Company was dispatched to the 2100 block of Basswood Drive in Whitemarsh Township for a reported fire alarm.
Engine 45, staffed with a crew of four firefighters, responded promptly. After conducting a thorough investigation, crews determined the activation was caused by a malfunctioning alarm system. The crew returned to the station, restored Engine 45 to service, and prepared for the next emergency.
Moments later, before they had a chance to settle back in, the company was dispatched at 13:28 hours to assist the Norristown Fire Department with a reported building fire in the 600 block of Calamia Drive.
Ladder 45, also staffed with a crew of four, responded and arrived as the first-due ladder company on the scene. The operator quickly positioned the aerial to provide rooftop access while firefighters deployed ground ladders to the A, B, and D sides of the building, ensuring multiple points of access and egress for crews operating on the incident. We operated alongside Norristown Professional Firefighters Local 2335, Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43), Norriton Fire Engine Company, Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS, Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2, Bridgeport Fire Department, Lower Providence Fire Department Barren Hill Fire Company
