The Spring
Mill Fire Company holds it's firefighters accountable to a high level of
training. More than three quarters of our firefighters are recognized
as Certified Professional Firefighters by the National Fire Academy at the
Fire Service Professional level.

The purpose
of this program is to identify and recognize emergency service personnel
whose accomplishments in training and education meets or exceeds nationally
recognized standards. The NFPA (National Fire Protection Association)
standards for Fire Service Professional Qualifications
identify the minimum requirements for a person at a particular level of
progression. A person certified to one of the Fire Service
Professional levels will have demonstrated competency in the knowledge and
skills required to perform at a particular level. The service that can be
offered to the citizens and communities of the Commonwealth will be enhanced
by the professional competency attained through this certification process.
Along with
this high level of training the Spring Mill Fire Company is one of a few
fire companies in the County who are a certified FAST Team (Firefighter
Assistance & Search Team) or RIT (Rapid Intervention Team). This
special team is designed to respond to any emergency where a firefighter
could become trapped inside of a burning structure. It would be this
teams sole responsibility to then attempt to locate and remove the trapped
firefighter/s.
